Exploring Earth's Movement with a Globe

In this engaging activity, 5th-grade students used a globe to understand the Earth's rotation and revolution. By rotating the globe on its axis, students visualized how day and night cycles occur. Moving the globe around an imaginary Sun helped them grasp the concept of revolution and its impact on seasons and years. Additionally, tilting the globe demonstrated how the Earth's axis affects the distribution of sunlight, resulting in changing seasons.

Through this hands-on activity, students gained a deeper understanding of three key concepts: rotation causes day and night, revolution around the Sun leads to seasons and years, and the tilt of the Earth's axis influences the amount of sunlight received, resulting in seasonal changes.
