The most beautiful world is always entered through imagination.” Helen Keller.
Scholastic and co-scholastic activities have an equal importance in school program for the all round development of the child. Keeping this in view, SSGITS Maninagar witnessed the Fancy dress competition for students of Pre Primary on Friday, 22nd December 2023.
Children can be the best natural “copycats” around. They love to mimic and impersonate. Although perceived as a mere fun activity, fancy dress is of great benefit to children especially for toddlers and preschoolers and for children for building their imagination and vocabulary.
Fancy dress is more than just physically wearing a costume.
When “in character”, children learn to role play. They learn to imitate the mannerisms of the character or object they’re dressed up as, and, may even create their own special traits and themes, which encourages children to “think outside the box,” practice different emotions, and use their language skills to communicate.
Fancy dress also encourages children to express their point of view of the world around them. It helps build both large and fine motor skills, decision making skills, encourages empathy and assists in the overall emotional development of children.
The students eagerly look forward as it allows them to live their fantasies by dressing up in costumes and acting like their favorite characters. They are able to test out new ideas such as cartoon, animals, birds, states, mismatch etc. This competition introduced students to the stage and it is the first step to become confident. It is about creative costumes and also the way students carry themselves on stage.
Students were all charming and it was a feast, watching them dressed up in different characters or creatures and walk on the ramp.
The effort taken by the parents of the participants is highly commendable. The children did a phenomenal job at the event! They were enthusiastic about dressing up for the event and with the assistance of their parents.
